Priority: normal Component: Bots - Other
Version: Latest version from repository Severity: minor

Description

Even if people do /!on to start Baseelim Alerts, it doesn't notify the players when a new game is beginning. Just thought I'd let you guys know in case it was an easy fix.

This bot of type alertbot has his settings for recognizing when a game starts (recognized by an arena message from Robo_Ref) done in a settings file. This settings file is stored at the harddisk of the bot who spawns it, in this case RoboQueen.

We still don't have any access to RoboQueen and I believe I don't have a copy of BElimAlertBot's settings. As soon as we get access this will be looked into.

TODO: Find out what arena messages BaseElim does and check with the regular expressions on Alertbot.

Didn't look into this very far, but these are my questions:

1. You said the alertbots are hosted on RoboQueen. Perhaps the only reason they aren't working is that they store usernames in a database but currently their database is set to "local".

2. Won't these be replaced by fantus?

Just tested this out... no defect detected...

Get ready. Game will start in 10 seconds
GO! GO! GO!
subby is out. 0 wins 1 losses
GAME OVER: Winner Jenny G
BElimAlert> Next baseelim game is starting now!

That leads me to believe the database declaration is the only error. See subby's notes in ticket #225 for the solution to base alert.

Replying to milosh:

No, the "local" database (there is also one on RoboQueen) does also have an alerts database.

If no defects can be found then this ticket can be closed. I'll ask Left_Eye to verify. If there are still problems, we will reopen it.

It should be fine now. I'll test it out later to be sure, but you can close this if necessary.
