Eventbot change

Hey Kolar,

The whole idea of EventBot was to reduce the '?help host' spam and make event requests more permanent. I feel that if we make EventBot act on the '?help host' command then EventBot would only gather statistics of requested events (and thus it will become a totally different bot).

I do see your point though (I'm also reading the posts about the EventBot each time). That this bot is giving so much complaining (even if there are only a few) and resistance, is not a good thing.

Mind giving your general opinion EventBot?

I don't believe there was problem with spam or anything with people using ?help to request events. That issue out of the way, if the deans believe that 'Got It' calls are of no value then they can discard them case by case with each staff member.

Now I think it was a good idea allowing people to request events and making them more permanent but the resistance as always is to change, certain people might have exacerbated the issue by pushing the idea that we would be banning those who do not conform. But I understand Eventbot wasn't meant to gather stats, it's there to make the connection between the host and player better and I think any tool we give our staff members to do that is a good thing, so maybe the changes I proposed were not such a good idea.

In either case I think the resistance to the bot would be moot if not non-existent if some people would work towards a consensus on policy rather than unilateral action and decision making (I mean this absolutely in no way at all towards you). I think we will have to be worked out there, not in a change to the core. Ty for the work you do for the zone and sorry for bothering you with this.
